Dermaplanning (Epidermal Levelling)
What is Dermaplaning or Epidermal Levelling
Dermaplaning which is also known as Epidermal Levelling, dermablading and epibladng is a popular treatment for exfoliating the skin. The treatment is viewed as being more effective than microdermabrasion in exfoliating the dead skin cells siting on the skins surface and creating a fresh new layer of skin. It also has the benefit of removing vellus hair (Peach Fuzz).
Dermaplaning is performed by a dermal therapist who will use a surgical scalpel to gently but efficently scrape away the dead skin cells and vellus hair.

- Preparing the skin for more advanced peels and treatments.
Dermaplaning during active Acne breakouts
Dermaplaning is not a recommended treatment during active acne breakouts. It can actually make your skin look and feel worse. If you have active Acne we recommend a free skin consultation so we can recommend one of our many effective acne treatments.

Is dermaplaning more effective than Microdermabrasion
We believe that dermaplanning is a more effective treatment than a traditional microdermabrasion as the treatment removes more of the dead skin cell layers and can be more efficiently controlled by the dermal therapist. It is also a more confortable procedure for the patient.
How many Dermaplaning treatments will you need
Results will be seen immediately after treatment and after that we recommend maintainence treatments on a regular basis to achieve the best results. Depending on your skins condition and your own skin care goals treatments could be as frequently as once every two to 4 weeks or as little as once or twice a year.
You may wish to alternate dermaplaning with other treatments such as chemical peels.

Is there any downtime after a Dermaplaning Treatment
There is no downtime associated with a dermaplaning treatment. You will be able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment, however, we strongly recommend the use of a SPF50 after treatment, particular if your expecting exposure to the sun as the risk of sun burning is increased.
Some patients may experience a slight skin redness, however, this should resolve relatively quickly and makeup can be applied immediately after the treatment.
