​HIFU Face and Neck Lift (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound)

HIFU stands for “High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound” and is a relatively new non invasive cosmetic technology. HIFU uses concentrated ultrasound energy to the face and neck by a handheld device.  It is a non-invasive treatment that helps stimulates the cells, resulting in tissue rejuvenation and collagen production. The overall effect of the treatment is to promote tightening and lifting of the skin in these areas.

A HIFU treatment can help stimulate tissue rejuvenation and collagen production – resulting in the tightening and lifting of saggy skin. In the hands of a skilled practitioner, this can produce results akin to facial sculpting (but without the need for surgery).

As a skin rejuvenating procedure, HIFU can help lift and tighten the neck, chin and brow, and improve lines and wrinkles on the chest.

Collagen production is expected to reach its optimum level at two to three months. It is during this period that a patient can already see their facial skin becoming younger-looking, healthier, softer, and supple.

HIFU Side Effects

HIFU is considered a safe, effective, and non invasive procedure for tightening the facial skin. Its advantages over a surgical face lift are,there are no incisions, no scarring, and no required rest or recovery time. There is some discomfort during the procedure and clients with a low pain threshold can take pain relief prior to the treatment.

When will I see the results from my HIFU Face Lift?

While you may notice an improvement in the appearance of your skin immediately after treatment, the full benefits of HIFU will be seen around the two or three-month mark. This is the time your body typically takes to replace the old, tired collagen with new, more elastic collagen. By this stage, collagen fibres deep within the skin will have tightened, and collagen production will have increased. Your skin will look softer, younger, smoother and overall healthier. There’s more good news too -- you’re likely to continue to see improvements up to six months following a HIFU Face Lift.

What is the treatment process?

During your HIFU Face Lift, a skilled practitioner will use a state-of-the-art, handheld 4D HIFU machine to administer tiny amounts of concentrated ultrasound energy to the skin. There are no needles, injections or surgery involved as HIFU is completely non-invasive.

How long will the results last?

After a HIFU treatment, patients typically still enjoy all the benefits of fresh, elasticated collagen a year after treatment. Depending on the condition of your skin, you may still see the results from your HIFU Face Lift for up to two years after the procedure. Touch-up treatments are recommended for those wishing to stem the ageing process.

How many treatments will I require?

Most patients only require one HIFU treatment. Depending on individual skin laxity and the body’s natural collagen-building process, a minority of people will benefit from one further treatment.

What are the benefits of HIFU?

HIFU is considered a very safe and completely non-invasive method of facial tightening, with no incisions or scarring. Ultrasound energy has been used in medicine for more than 50 years, with an excellent safety profile and superb results.

Who is a good candidate for HIFU?

Almost anyone can benefit from a collagen-boosting HIFU face lift at Allure, regardless of gender, age or skin colour. The most obvious results are seen in patients with ageing or maturing skin.

Is HIFU painful? What does it feel like?

A HIFU Face Lift is a non-invasive treatment which means there are no needles, surgery or injections involved and anaesthesia is not needed. Some patients have reported temporary discomfort during the procedure, but this is normally a good sign as it means the collagen-building process has been kick-started. Your practitioner will chat with you beforehand to ensure you’re completely comfortable throughout the process.

Are there contra indications?

HIFU is contradicted for use in patients with open wounds, skin infections, epilepsy, herpes simplex virus, Bell’s palsy, autoimmune disease, heart conditions, severe or cystic acne on the face and/or neck, pacemakers and electronic device implants in the treatment areas, as well as any condition that may impair wound healing. Areas previously injected with dermal fillers can not be treated.

What is HIFU Mini or Mini HIFU?

At Allure, we use a special pen-shaped attachment head called the Mini HIFU to precisely target all of those tiny crevices and spaces around the eyes and mouth that might be bothering you.

Aftercare and advice post HIFU treatment?

There is no downtime with HIFU, and you can return to your normal activities right away. Some patients experience a little redness and swelling, but makeup can be applied immediately post-treatment if necessary. On the day of the procedure, we recommend that you limit sun exposure, apply SPF30 or higher and use a non-abrasive cleanser and light moisturiser. You can resume your normal skincare routine the next day. Avoid waxing or tweezing the treated areas for three days post-treatment.

Mini HIFU

This treatment is performed using a specialised attachment to the 3D HIFU machine which is called Mini HIFU. Its pen like shape enables it to get into the small and tight spaces around the eyes and mouth that cannot be reached with a regular HIFU 3D Cartridge.
